Movers in Fairfax County, Virginia

Fairfax County is not one market. A brick rambler inside the Beltway, a condo tower in Tysons and a house on a wooded lot near Clifton sit in the same county and none of them move alike. What they tend to share is that the constraint is administrative — an association space, a parking-deck clearance, a dock reservation — rather than the mileage. Reliable Movers Enterprise works across the county on 25+ years of moving experience, family-owned since 2016. Call 703-495-7005, or send us the address and ask for a free estimate.

Four Fairfax County moves

Inside the Beltway: Annandale, Seven Corners, Baileys Crossroads and McLean

Post-war brick ramblers and split-levels on short driveways, under trees that have had seventy years to grow. The street is often parked on both sides before the crew arrives, and the house behind it has been extended at least once, so the kitchen is bigger than the plan suggests and the route from the door to the kerb is longer than it looks.

Tysons, Reston and Herndon

High-rise condos and town-centre buildings: a parking garage with a clearance limit, a shared loading area, a freight elevator that has to be booked. Before anything is carried we work out whether the truck can enter the garage at all and, if it cannot, where it waits and who has to know.

Springfield, Burke, West Springfield and Kingstowne

Townhouse clusters built in the 1970s and 1980s, with visitor parking that is not where the truck needs to be, split-foyer stairs that put a full flight between the door and the living room, and decks that mean a second route through the house. The Springfield interchange is a planning item on any move that crosses the Beltway.

Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, Great Falls, Clifton and Lorton

Bigger lots, longer driveways, gravel, woods and steep grades near the creeks. On a wooded lot the truck may be able to reach the house and still not be able to turn around, and overhead limbs decide how far in it can come. Lorton mixes newer townhouse communities with older village houses, so the answer changes street by street.

Association rules are part of the schedule

Townhouse and condo associations across the county routinely limit when a truck may be at the building, where it may stand, and how long it may stay, and some require the move to be registered with management beforehand. We cannot register it for you. We can tell you what to ask, and we will work inside whatever window you are given — including a window that only allows the evening, or one that closes at a set hour.

Garage height, parking decks and the truck that does not fit

In Tysons and Reston a fair part of the job is settled before the first piece is lifted: the garage has a clearance limit, the loading area is shared with residents, and the freight elevator runs on a booking. Send the building's requirements with your estimate request and we will tell you whether the truck can enter the deck or has to wait outside it, and what that changes about the carry.

Services around the county

Three services, one crew list, and an estimate that follows the address rather than a rate card.

And alongside them: loading and unloading, senior moves, college moves, storage and container work, furniture removal, single-item moves and extra stops between Fairfax County and Alexandria, Arlington or the District.

What changes a Fairfax County estimate

The county is large enough that two similar houses can price differently, and the difference is almost always access rather than distance.

The association's window A defined move-in window compresses the day, which changes crew size and start time.
Garage and deck clearance If the truck cannot enter the deck, the carry moves outside and the job takes longer.
Townhouse and split-foyer stairs One flight from the door and another inside is normal here, and both get counted.
Driveway length and grade Long gravel drives and slopes near the creeks change what a crew can carry and how far.
Trees and overhead limbs Wooded lots limit where a tall truck can stop, and sometimes how far up the drive it can go.
Floors above or below grade Basements, walk-outs and bonus rooms each add a level that furniture has to be carried through.
Route and timing The Springfield interchange, I-66 and the Dulles corridor determine drive time between the two addresses.
Storage or a second stop A unit picked up on the way, or a gap between closing dates, is built into the schedule.

Send the address, the floor, the garage clearance and roughly what you own, and we will tell you what the day looks like. Ask for a free estimate on 703-495-7005, or fill in the estimate form on our homepage.

Fairfax County moving questions

Association windows, garage clearances and independent cities are the three things customers ask about most, so they are answered first.

Is Fairfax City part of Fairfax County?

No. Fairfax City and Falls Church are independent cities surrounded by the county, and Alexandria and Arlington are separate jurisdictions again. It makes no practical difference to the move — we work in all of them — but it does explain why the same address can appear under two different names on different maps.

Our association limits when movers can be at the building. Can you work to that?

Yes, and it is the first thing we ask about a townhouse or condo address. Tell us the window the association allows and whether the truck has a designated place, and we will tell you honestly whether your move fits inside it, including when the answer is that it needs a longer day.

Can your truck get into a parking garage in Tysons or Reston?

Sometimes, and sometimes not — it depends on the clearance and the turning space, not on the building's age. Send us the garage's height limit and where loading is allowed and we will tell you before the morning. If the truck cannot enter, we plan where it waits and how the carry runs from there.

Do you move within the county as well as out of it?

Both. A move from Annandale to Burke is as ordinary for us as a move from Reston into DC. Short distance does not mean short job: the stairs, the association rules and the driveways usually decide the length of the day.

How far ahead should we book a weekend move?

Earlier is better. Weekends and the end of the month go first, and buildings with dock or elevator requirements need extra notice because the reservation has to be approved by someone else. Call 703-495-7005 with your date and we will tell you what is open.

Can you handle a move with a storage unit in the middle?

Yes. Closing dates and building approvals do not always line up, so loading into storage and delivering later is a normal arrangement. Tell us the size of the unit and whether it is already filled, and we will plan the order so the pieces you need last are loaded first.

Other areas we serve

Fairfax County borders most of what we cover, which makes a second address nearby a normal part of the job.
